Skilled nursing facility
A skilled nursing facility (SNF) is a US facility staffed and equipped to treat, manage and evaluate a patient's condition, typically part of a nursing home or hospital, providing care from doctors, nurses and therapists.

It differs from non-medical long-term care — help with daily activities like bathing and dressing — which Medicare does not cover. Medicare covers up to 100 days of SNF care in each benefit period, requiring a medically necessary hospital stay of at least three consecutive days and entry within about 30 days of leaving hospital.
