Residents usually pay a monthly fee based on unit size plus a one-time entrance fee, which may or may not be refundable; a refundable fee still counts as an asset for Medicaid eligibility even if inaccessible. Some communities require a health screening before admission, and some allow a couple to move in even if only one needs it.
